Rockdoor Composite Doors — Fully Fitted Across the Midlands

Rockdoor is the UK’s original composite door manufacturer — engineered in Blackburn, Lancashire since 1996 and built to be the most secure composite door you can buy. Every Rockdoor features a 360° aluminium-reinforced inner frame, high-density polyurethane foam core, welded steel mesh, and S-Glaze technology as standard. No other composite door on the market combines all four.

We’re one of the most experienced Rockdoor Trusted Installers in the Midlands, with over 2,000 Rockdoors fitted across Derby, Nottingham and Leicester since 2010. Prices start from £1,500 fully fitted including VAT.

What Makes Rockdoor Different?

Most composite doors follow the same basic formula: a foam-filled core, a GRP skin, and clip-in glazing cassettes. Rockdoor took a different approach from day one — engineering every component to work together as a single, reinforced structure. The result is a door independently tested to be 35% stronger than standard composite doors, earning it the nickname “the door that beat the bobbies” after police couldn’t breach it with battering rams. Rockdoor holds PAS 24 certification and Secured by Design accreditation is available when specified with laminated glass and steel mesh options.

Overview of a Rockdoor including the door leaf, outerframe, handles, locking mechanism, threshold, seals and door skin

Here’s what sets the construction apart:

  • 360° aluminium-reinforced inner frame — all hardware bolts directly into aluminium, not just the door skin. The current box section is 50% stronger than the original from nearly 30 years ago.
  • High-density foam core — the 50mm door sash is built from a bespoke high-density polyurethane core between 3mm high-impact skins on both sides, significantly stronger and more rigid than standard GRP composite doors. An optional steel mesh upgrade is also available, embedding galvanised 2.5mm steel rods at 50mm intervals within the structure for an additional layer of security.
  • S-Glaze technology — glass is permanently sealed into the door during manufacturing, eliminating clip-in glazing cassettes that can be removed from outside in under a minute.
  • Winkhaus multi-point locking — German-engineered system with 25mm solid brass hooks and a TS007 3 Star Sold Secure Diamond Lock as standard.
  • 3D adjustable hinges — German-engineered, routed into the frame with Teflon bushes for frictionless operation over the lifetime of the door.
  • Q-Lon gaskets — one continuous seal around the entire frame, not four separate pieces. Outperforms standard seals by 50%.

Rockdoor offers 14 colours across their range, and because you can choose different colours for the inside and outside of your door, that’s 196 possible combinations. Match the exterior to your property’s facade and the interior to your hallway — or keep it the same both sides.

Available colours: White, Cream, Light Oak, Rosewood, Irish Oak, Black, Red, Blue, Green, Chartwell Green, Anthracite Grey, Slate Grey, Agate Grey and Pebble Grey.

Agate grey is now our most popular Rockdoor colour in 2026, overtaking anthracite grey which dominated for nearly a decade. For a detailed breakdown of every colour with RAL codes, frame and cill matching options, and which colours work best on different property types, see our complete Rockdoor colours guide. For south-facing doors, lighter colours are worth considering as darker shades can absorb more heat on the hottest days.

Over 95% of the doors we fit need a cill, and around 85% require a low threshold — so we always include these in our quotes upfront rather than adding them as surprises later. Most customers spend between £1,900 and £2,100 on a single Rockdoor once they’ve chosen their colour, glass design, hardware, cill and threshold.

Rockdoor prices vary significantly between installers. As a family-run business with low overheads and no salespeople, our prices are consistently competitive — our customers regularly tell us they’ve been quoted £500 or more elsewhere for the exact same door. How It Works

1. Get a Quote — send us photos of your existing door (inside and outside) along with the Rockdoor style and features you’re interested in. We’ll send you a design and accurate price within 24 hours — no home visit needed at this stage.

2. Survey — happy with the design and price? We’ll arrange a survey at a time that suits you, including evenings and weekends. We take precise measurements, assess your existing frame and brickwork, and finalise the specification. Price changes after survey are very rare because the upfront photo assessment is that thorough.

3. Installation — typical lead time is 5 weeks from order. Installation takes one day for a standard Rockdoor. We protect your property throughout, remove your old door, fit the new one to manufacturer specifications, and leave everything clean and tidy.

Rockdoor FAQs

What is a Rockdoor?

Rockdoor is the UK’s original composite door manufacturer, based in Blackburn, Lancashire since 1996. Unlike standard GRP composite doors that use a timber frame and clip-on glazing cassettes, Rockdoors are built around a 360° aluminium-reinforced inner frame with a high-density polyurethane foam core and S-Glaze technology that permanently seals the glass into the door. They’re 35% stronger than a typical GRP composite door.

How much does a Rockdoor cost?

Rockdoor starts from £1,500 fully fitted in white with plain clear glass. Most customers spend between £1,900 and £2,100 once colour upgrades (£70), glass designs (£60–£275) and hardware are added. See our full Rockdoor pricing breakdown with exact costs for every upgrade.

Are Rockdoors worth the money?

Yes. Rockdoors cost more than standard GRP composite doors, but they include features no other manufacturer offers as standard: S-Glaze technology (no removable glazing cassettes), a 360° aluminium inner frame, Winkhaus multi-point locking, 3D adjustable hinges and Q-Lon gaskets. The build quality means fewer callbacks and issues long-term. Over 95% of the 2,000+ doors we’ve fitted since 2010 are Rockdoors — we wouldn’t stake our reputation on them if we didn’t believe in the product.

Do Rockdoors warp?

All composite doors experience minor movement due to temperature changes — no manufacturer can eliminate this entirely. However, Rockdoor’s 360° aluminium inner frame restricts movement significantly compared to timber-framed alternatives, and they back this with a 3mm no-bow guarantee. In our experience fitting Rockdoors since 2010, any movement we’ve seen has been slight and has had no effect on weatherproofing, opening, closing or locking. We recommend lighter colours for south-facing doors to minimise heat absorption.

What guarantee does a Rockdoor come with?

Rockdoor offers a 10-year guarantee on the door slab, outerframe and double-glazed unit, a 5-year guarantee on sideframe profiles and sideframe glass, a 5-year guarantee on locking mechanisms, and a 2-year guarantee on door furniture. There’s also a £2,000 security guarantee against lock snapping. The guarantee sits with the installer, not the homeowner directly — which is why choosing the right installer matters as much as the door. For a full breakdown of what’s covered, what isn’t, and how to protect yourself, see our Rockdoor guarantee guide.

How do you clean a Rockdoor?

Rockdoors are low maintenance. Wipe down the door with warm soapy water and a soft cloth — no abrasive cleaners, bleach or solvents. Clean and hoover the threshold once a month to keep drainage channels clear. Lubricate the locking mechanism once a year with GT-85 (not WD-40, which can gum up the lock over time). If you have stainless steel handles, Rockdoor supply a separate cleaning kit as these need more regular attention to prevent pitting. Need replacement parts? Browse our Rockdoor replacement parts guide.

Can you fit a cat flap to a Rockdoor?

Yes, but it must be factory-fitted during manufacture — not cut on-site afterwards. Retrospectively fitting a cat flap will invalidate your guarantee. Rockdoor use CNC machines to precision-cut the aperture, and the cat flap passes full quality checks before leaving the factory. A factory-fitted cat flap costs approximately £70. If you need one, tell your installer at the quoting stage so it’s included in the order.

Are Rockdoors Secured by Design?

Rockdoors can achieve Secured by Design status — the official police-backed security standard — but it requires a specific configuration: laminated glass, the steel mesh upgrade (£90), and a TS008-compliant letterplate. The standard Rockdoor specification without these upgrades still far exceeds most GRP composite doors for security, and in practice very few customers opt for the full SBD package. If Secured by Design certification is important to you — for example, if your insurer requires it — let your installer know at the quoting stage.
