Most of our Derby work is on newer-build semi-detached and detached homes, the kind you’ll find across Boulton Moor, Chellaston, Mickleover and the estates around Oakwood and Littleover. They usually have standard single door openings, so they’re straightforward to survey and fit.
The job we do most is replacing the original builder’s door, usually a basic GRP or uPVC door that came with the house, with a Rockdoor or a higher-specification GRP composite. Builder’s doors are made to a budget, with lightweight panels, basic locks and little insulation, so the difference in feel, security and appearance is big.
On older properties in areas like Allestree, Duffield and Darley Abbey, a more traditional door suits the house. The Rockdoor English Cottage and Rockdoor Jacobean are popular choices: traditional, cottage-style character with modern security.

Which is better, Rockdoor or GRP?
Both are genuine composite doors with solid foam cores, multi-point locking and high-security cylinders. Rockdoor has the highest security specification we fit: an aluminium-reinforced frame, S-Glaze sealed glazing and PAS 24 certification. GRP offers excellent performance at a lower price and is a big step up from uPVC. If security is your top priority, choose Rockdoor; if budget matters more, GRP is great value. How long does a composite door take in Derby?

Is a composite door better than uPVC?
A composite door has a foam core and a GRP skin, so it is thicker and heavier than a uPVC door. Ours have multi-point locking and a high-security cylinder, and the colour doesn’t need painting. If your uPVC door has yellowed or dropped, a composite is a straightforward upgrade.
Do you fit composite French doors, stable doors and back doors in Derby?
Yes. Composite stable doors start from £2,350 and composite French doors from £3,400, fully fitted. GRP is popular for back doors in Derby. For wider openings we also fit aluminium bifold doors.
