Two styles

Rockdoor Stable Spy View and Stable View Light, priced the same way: one figure that covers everything.

Stable View Light or Stable Spy View: which composite stable door suits you?

Our composite stable doors are Rockdoor doors, split in two so the top half opens on its own. Both styles have a foam core, an aluminium-reinforced frame and Winkhaus multi-point locking. The main difference is the window in the top half.

Why choose a composite stable door?

Fresh air, safely

A slide bolt lets you open the top half for air and light while the bottom half stays shut. A good fit for kitchens, utility rooms and back doors.

Children and pets

The closed bottom half keeps young children and pets inside while the top half is open.

Secure

Rockdoor makes locks just for stable doors, with a deadbolt and a hook in each half. Closed and locked, the two halves work as one secure door.

Low maintenance

No painting or varnishing, and no warping, cracking or fading like timber. A wipe with soapy water is enough.

Options

Choosing a composite stable door: colour, glass and hardware

Everything is chosen at the design stage, so the price in your quote is the final price.

Rockdoor's 14 colours: pick one to see it on a door we've fitted

Every photo is a door we fitted, apart from Pebble Grey, Rockdoor’s newest colour, shown close up. Screens show colour a little differently from daylight. See every colour in our Rockdoor colours guide.

Colour£70 for a colour other than white

Both halves come in any of the 14 Rockdoor colours, with a different colour inside if you like: 196 combinations. We have fitted stable doors in Irish Oak, White, Agate Grey and Anthracite Grey.

See Rockdoor colours on real doors

Glass in the top half£80–£260 for a glass design on a Rockdoor

The glass sits in the top half, so you can see out while it is closed. Choose a small square window, or a larger pane in Satin, Sandstone, Square Lead or another Rockdoor glass design. The lower half is solid.

Handles and hardwareIncluded in the price

Lever handles in chrome, black, gold or brushed steel. We match them to your door colour.

SecurityStandard on every door

The top and bottom halves open on their own and each has its own locking. Multi-point locking and an anti-snap cylinder are standard, and the window in the top half is sealed in with S-Glaze, so it can’t be removed from outside.

Which cylinder lock? Our comparison

Cat flapsAbout £70 for a factory-fitted cat flap

We have fitted stable doors with a cat flap. Rockdoor’s come magnetic, opened by a key on your cat’s collar, or manual, in white or brown, and both can be set to open, locked, out only or in only. Tell us when you ask for a quote, because a flap has to be fitted when the door is made. Cutting one into a finished door can void the guarantee.

Costs shown are what each option adds to the starting price.

Jim and Josh came today to fit a stable door with cat flap to replace our back door and a replacement door on the side of the garage.
They took great care fitting the doors, I would have hesitation recommending them.

What people ask about composite stable doors

How much is a composite stable door?

From £2,350 fitted, including VAT. Your choice of style, colour, glass and hardware sets the final price, and we put it in writing by email before you commit. See our composite door prices guide.

What is a composite stable door?

A door split in two across the middle, so the top half opens on its own while the bottom half stays shut. When both halves are closed and locked, they work as one door. Ours are Rockdoor composite doors, made to measure.

Are composite stable doors secure?

Yes. Each half has its own locking, with multi-point locking and an anti-snap cylinder as standard, and the top-half glass is bonded in with S-Glaze.

Where do stable doors work best?

Mostly in kitchens, utility rooms and at the back of the house, where you want fresh air and light but need to keep children or pets in. They also suit older and cottage-style homes.

Can a composite stable door have a cat flap?

Yes, but it has to be fitted when the door is made, so tell us when you ask for a quote. Cutting a flap into a finished door can void the guarantee.

Do composite stable doors need much looking after?

No. They need no painting or varnishing, and they don’t warp, crack or fade like timber. A wipe with soapy water is enough, and they come with a 10-year manufacturer’s guarantee.

Is a stable door draughty?

Not when both halves are shut. A centre seal made for stable doors closes the gap between them, and an insulating foam core, double glazing and weatherproof seals do the rest. Rockdoor rates its stable doors B for energy.

Which colours can a stable door be?

Any of the 14 Rockdoor colours, inside and out. Irish Oak suits a cottage look, and we have also fitted White, Agate Grey and Anthracite Grey. See Rockdoor colours.

How soon can my stable door be fitted?

Around seven weeks from order to fitting is typical. We quote within 24 hours and survey when you choose, evenings and weekends included, then your stable door is made to measure.

Can you supply a stable door for my own fitter?

Yes. We deliver composite stable doors across mainland UK, for you or your fitter to fit. Get in touch for a supply-only quote.
