Rockdoor Cylinder Locks
The cylinder lock (also called the euro cylinder or door barrel) is the part where you insert your key. If your key won’t turn smoothly, feels stiff, or you’re concerned about security after losing keys, you may need a replacement cylinder.
Rockdoor cylinders come in two configurations: Key/Key (key operation on both sides) or Key/Thumbturn (key outside, thumbturn inside). Key/Thumbturn is more convenient for everyday use and meets Building Regulations fire escape requirements.

Replacement Rockdoor Keys
Rockdoor keys use a standard traditional key profile that any key-cutting shop can copy. If you’ve lost keys or need spares, simply take your existing key to a local locksmith or key-cutting service like Timpson, and they’ll cut you a duplicate on the spot for around £5-10.
However, we recommend using genuine Rockdoor branded blanks for two important reasons. First, key cutters sometimes use slightly thinner or thicker generic blanks that may not operate as smoothly in your lock—we’ve experienced this issue with customers in the past. Second, genuine Rockdoor blanks maintain the distinctive purple colour and branding, keeping all your keys consistent.
Using original blanks eliminates the trial-and-error approach. With generic blanks, you’d need to get one cut first, test it thoroughly, then order more if it works properly. With genuine Rockdoor blanks, you’re guaranteed correct thickness and reliable operation from the start.

Rockdoor lever handles are built to last, but after years of daily use, the finish can tarnish or wear, particularly in coastal areas where salt air accelerates corrosion. Replacing your handles is one of the quickest ways to refresh your door’s appearance without the cost of a full replacement.
We stock genuine Rockdoor lever handles in six finishes to match your original installation: Polished Chrome, Polished Gold, Satin Chrome, Black, White, and Stainless Steel. If you live within 5 miles of the coast, we strongly recommend upgrading to marine-grade Stainless Steel handles, which resist salt corrosion far better than standard chrome or gold finishes.
Standard finishes typically show tarnishing within 12-18 months in coastal locations, while stainless steel maintains its appearance for decades.
Handles are sold as a complete set including the lever (internal and external) spindle, and fixings and are completely universal for hinge side.

Rockdoor Letterboxes

Letterboxes are supplied as complete units including the external flap, internal draught excluder, fixings, and seals. The replacement process involves removing the old letterbox screws from inside the door and fitting the new unit through the existing aperture—no cutting or drilling required. The job takes around 10-20 minutes for most DIYers.
Important note: Rockdoor letterbox apertures are specific sizes, so generic letterboxes from hardware shops won’t fit correctly and will compromise your door’s security and weather seals. Always use genuine Rockdoor letterboxes or compatible equivalents designed for the exact aperture size.
Rockdoor Hinge
Rockdoor composite doors use heavy-duty 3D adjustable hinges that allow precise alignment in three directions: up/down (vertical), left/right (horizontal), and in/out (compression). This three-way adjustment is essential because composite doors are significantly heavier than uPVC or timber doors—typically 60-80kg—and even minor settlement or seasonal movement can affect how smoothly your door operates.
All Rockdoor installations use three hinges per door, positioned on the hinge side to distribute the weight evenly. Each hinge is colour-matched to your door’s hardware finish, available in Polished Gold, Silver (Satin), and Black to maintain a cohesive appearance with your handles and letterbox.
You’ll need replacement hinges if you notice sagging (the door drops when opened), difficult closing (catching on the frame), draughts appearing around the seal, or visible wear like rust spots or stripped adjustment screws.

Replacement Q-Lon Seal
The Q-Lon seal is the black compression seal that runs around the perimeter of your Rockdoor frame, creating an airtight barrier against draughts, rain, and noise when the door closes. This seal is critical to your door’s thermal performance and weather protection—without an intact seal, you’ll experience heat loss, increased energy bills, and water ingress during heavy rain.
Q-Lon seals typically last 10-15 years before showing signs of wear, but can deteriorate faster if exposed to direct sunlight or extreme temperature fluctuations. The most common cause of premature seal damage is pets—dogs and cats often chew or scratch at the black seal, particularly around the bottom of the door where they scratch to come in or go out. Even small sections of damaged seal can create significant draughts and heat loss.
You’ll know your seal needs replacing if you feel draughts around the door when closed, notice daylight visible through gaps, hear increased external noise, or see visible cracks, splits, teeth marks, or compression damage in the seal material.

Replacement is straightforward for DIYers. The old seal simply pulls out of its groove in the frame, and the new seal pushes back in—no adhesive required. The Q-Lon profile has a barbed edge that grips into the groove and holds itself in place. Start at the top corner and work your way around, ensuring the seal sits flush in the groove. The job takes 20-35 minutes for a standard door.

Rockdoor Grey Brush Pile
The grey brush pile is the soft, bristle-like weatherstripping installed around the perimeter of your Rockdoor frame on the internal side, working alongside the black Q-Lon seal (which is on the external side). These fine synthetic bristles create a flexible secondary seal that fills the small gaps between the door and frame, blocking draughts, dust, and insects while still allowing the door to open and close smoothly.
Like the Q-Lon seal, brush pile is vulnerable to pet damage. Dogs and cats frequently chew, scratch, or pull at the grey bristles, particularly at the bottom where they paw at the door to come in or go out. Even partial damage to the brush pile compromises its effectiveness, allowing draughts and reducing your door’s thermal efficiency.
You’ll need replacement brush pile if you notice draughts around the door edges, see missing or flattened bristles, find chewed sections, or notice the bristles have become compressed and no longer spring back. Brush pile is also prone to general wear over time—the constant friction of opening and closing gradually flattens the bristles, reducing their sealing effectiveness after 10-15 years.

Replacement is extremely simple. The old brush pile pulls straight out of its channel in the frame, and the new pile pushes back in—it’s genuinely one of the easiest door maintenance tasks. The brush pile has a rigid fin that slots into the channel and holds itself in place. No tools required, and the job takes just 20-30 minutes.
