We received an email from a potential customer roughly a hundred miles away in North London requesting a quote for a Rockdoor and two side panels. It turns out they are having an extension on the front of their renovation and it’s almost ready to be measured for a new composite door to be fitted. We sent off the design and price, along with discussions about having a number in the side panel but the customer wanted it done before Easter so things could progress further. We had a Rockdoor to measure just south of Rugby and the customer emailed back wishing to go ahead and we managed to measure both doors in one go so the timing was perfect but that’s not always the case though! Often we will get a quote in some place we have just been too.
Once we had the measurements, we emailed back the updated design with the new sizes and any amendments required, we got the OK for the order to go ahead and we ordered the door and emailed the customer some options of an installation date. Within two weeks we had been and measured the job, confirmed the design and the price (which was exactly what we said it would be on the initial quotation) and we were back on site to carry out the installation so that the house could be secure enough for the customer to move back into and the builders could carry on with the next stages of plastering and rendering.
From the outset, the customer explained the situation and said what they needed and we made sure we were there to do what we said we would and we got another 5* review on Google for doing so. It was an early start for us to be on site for 7:30am (kids off school and the traffic was quiet) with a hundred mile trip along the M1 but by mid-day the installation was complete, and we were on our way to get sorted and prepared for the next installation.
Many jobs are like this but generally the distances are less than this one but it’s always a great feeling to deliver on time and provide an excellent service knowing that other trades were depending on us and the home owner can get back into their home.
Installation was straight forward. We got the cill level and fixed down, de-glazed the side frames, put the glass in a safe place and got the side frames and door located into the aperture. The 10mm aluminium couplers were installed, clamped and screwed together from the Rockdoor frame into the side frame and from the side frame into the Rockdoor to ensure extra strength. When you have side panels its essential to get fixings into the lintel above to help prevent movement when operating the door. Sometimes screwing into lintels can be very hard but we managed to get 6 fixings into the lintel, ensuring the Rockdoor was absolutely solid. Installation complete, the render can now begin to finish off the front of this beautiful house and Rockdoor.
